“The development and maintenance of lifelong
friendships between the people and communities of Swindon and Ocotal
through working in partnership with all appropriate bodies.”
(SOL’s Mission Statement)
What is SOL?
SOL (Swindon Ocotal Link) is a town-twinning organisation which links the people of Swindon and
Ocotal (in Nicaragua) together. It is a legally constituted charitable organisation.
SOL works at a number of different levels. It promotes the very important
civic link between the two communities of Swindon and Ocotal, as well as between
groups and organisations, including school and hospital links. It also supports
a variety of development projects in Ocotal.
Each year, people from Ocotal and Swindon travel to their
sister town to celebrate the friendship and support we offer
each other. All those who have visited Ocotal come back speaking
of the hospitality, friendship and sense of community they experience.
SOL represents the growing family of mutual friendship and respect
between the two towns.
